The CILIP Carnegie & Kate Greenaway Medals longlists 2020
The longlists for the 2020 CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals have been announced.
The Carnegie Medal is awarded by children’s librarians for an outstanding book written in English for children and young people. The Kate Greenaway Medal is awarded by children’s librarians for an outstanding book in terms of illustration for children and young people.
Here are the longlisted books for the 2020 Carnegie Medal:

Julia Hale, Chair of the judging panels for both awards, said: ‘Through writing and illustration, the authors and artists offer children and young people stories of hope, discovery and understanding about themselves and the world they live in. There is a strong emphasis in the longlists on how young readers can navigate that journey, through relationships with families and friends and from learning more about themselves.’
The 2020 shortlists will be announced on 19 March, with the winners to be revealed on 17 June.
