Three irreverent and engaging illustrated books for young readers appear in last week’s list of bestselling books.

Alien vs Bad Guys is Aaron Blabey’s sixth adventure with the bad (but trying not to be…) guys, A Tale of Two Kitties is Dav Pilkey’s third adventure with memorable hero, Dog Man, and The 91-Storey Treehouse is the latest brilliant Treehouse tale from dynamic duo Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

Last week also saw tween readers are snapping up copies of the new Magnus Chase story from Rick Riordan, which sets the stage for an epic battle with the trickster god, Loki, as well as The War I Finally Won, which is Kimberly Brubaker Bradley’s follow-up to her award-winning The War That Saved My Life.

Later this month the inimitable Philip Pullman will be releasing La Belle Sauvage – the first book in a new trilogy set in the same world as his outstanding His Dark Materials trilogy. There’s still time to speed-read (or speed-reread) the original series, and a bind-up edition containing all three books appears on this list. We’ve been anticipating this book since February so we’re very excited!
