Overkilling The Past

Charles doesn't look like a serial killer. He looks like what he is, a regular guy. He looks like that dude that makes coffee every day in the breakroom. He reminds you of the referee who was at all of the games when your kids were young, playing sports at the YMCA. He's a regular Joe. He looks like the type of guy who'd have an 'I'd rather be fishing' bumper sticker on his pickup truck. Charles is known for being a good husband, a loyal friend, and a reliable employee. He's just like everyone else, except with an insatiable penchant for violence. More of an opportunistic murderer than a calculated killer, Charles is triggered by his memories. A person's arrogant behavior or careless language might make him remember one of his mother's boyfriends and cause Charles to run that person over with his car, then stab that person through their already crushed chest. Is it overkill? yes. Does it satisfy his urges? Sometimes, yes, but not always. A man's abusive behavior towards his wife might remind Charles of the rage his stepdad had for his mom, and that man's last thoughts might get splattered across the interior of their vehicle. The wife might get shot too as a favor from Charles, freeing her from that bad relationship. That's just the way Charles' brain works. It's smarter than everybody else's. It's especially smarter than the brain of his new best friend, Detective Dewayne Lucas, the semi-famous TV investigator assigned to solve all of these seemingly unrelated murders. Charles is a good friend, surely he can team up with his new buddy and figure this out right?
