Simple enlightenment is attainment of clarity, compassion, peace, fairness, kindness, wisdom (and more.) This experience is no less amazing and powerful than the awakening, samadhi or nirvana of other traditions. I believe we experience our enlightenment when of us can embrace and employ our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual selves in union; bringing peace and purpose to our own unique lives. We each were born with this enlightenment within. The book's intention is to help each person to connect with this simple enlightenment in their own way.
Author Suni Moon leads us on a discovery journey based on the mantra that we are- physical and spiritual, visible and invisible, practical/logical and magical.
In Moon's life of extensive study, she has sought keys or common threads through many cultures, religions and traditions. Her mission as always been to share deeper concepts in simple ways. Now in this time of global transformation or global awakening, Moon's "This Journey- a path to simple enlightenment" shares ideas of how each of us was born enlightened but was raised in a society that didn't help us see it. She describes in the first part of the book what was broken in our old work that limited our seeing our personal power. Now, in this new transforming world, we can shed some old labels, build some new neural pathways and embrace our wholeness as physical and energetic/ spiritual beings.
The second part of the book offers a "Cliff Notes" approach to deep areas of interest/power. She dives into the body's energy system, using meditation, breathwork, sound, crystals and so much more. Each chapter is a basic description of a big concept written for the non-spiritual journeyer to get the gist of these very helpful topics. Moon then directs the journeyers on these new spiritual paths to pick the topics that resonate most powerfully with them and go study more. She offers us her online resources, including audio of meditation and breathwork practices to help the journeyer along.
She opens the book this way, "I know my use of the term "simple enlightenment" will raise a few eyebrows. Many of us associate enlightenment with a difficult-to-reach state of spiritual knowledge that many study a lifetime for and few feel they achieve. I am sure that many of us might wish for enlightenment, but we feel challenged to actually define it. So I concluded that my title might not be received by many, but might be very helpful to some. So, I have chosen to remain unconcerned about the use of a word that most people have written off, anyway? (grin) Rather than criticizing my choice of terms, allow me to bring a fresh focus to enlightenment and explore why you have found yourself drawn to this book."
