Henry the Horse is a beloved family pet. One day, his owners find they can no longer provide for him and turn to the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals (MSSPA) for help. Follow Henry the Horse's journey as he meets new friends, both animal and human, and finds a new forever home.
The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals located in Windham, Maine was established in 1872. The MSSPA's original mission, to protect the horses of Portland, has advanced its mission to help horses in need across the state of Maine and even New England. The MSSPA operates only on donations, taking no money for its shelter services or reimbursement from state or local municipalities. The MSSPA operates with a goal of rehabilitating the horses in their care and placing them in loving new homes.
While working as a Humane Agent for the State of Maine, the author was introduced to this special and unique rescue organization. Since that initial meeting their animals and the mission that drives their care has driven the author to find ways to help aid in the work that the Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals has been doing for over 150 years.
The proceeds from the purchase of this book are donated to the MSSPA. Each book sold helps the many animals saved and rehomed by the rescue each year. To learn more about the MSSPA, it's mission, and ways to volunteer or donate visit their website: www.msspa.org
