No religion. No government. No one writes. No one reads. It's just the Nomos. Many years ago, the Caverna appeared in the middle of the land; a black hole that siphons any and all life that comes near it. Over the centuries, the Caverna grew larger and larger, consuming all the other villages and natural life, forcing most of the plants, animals, and Edians into extinction. Then, one day, it stopped growing.

Milo and his people are the last standing village in Edian, and they have made their foundation just at the Oasis. The waters that flow from Mt.Edian to the Oasis have helped them sustain and grow life in Edian. But now, after many decades of peace, the land is changing again; there's a shifting in the terrain, and the Caverna is expanding at a faster rate than ever before.

No one is allowed to go near the Caverna, and the Sin Regreso posts make sure of that, protecting them and keeping a safe border between Milo's village and the Caverna. Everyone believes that they are protected and that the Nomos (The Great Moral Law) is what keeps them strong and unified, but Milo doesn't buy it. He believes there is more to the world than living in fear.

In Oracle of Edian, the first volume of Ben Monty's To Live In One's Hand Trilogy, we join Milo in his eternal struggle with finding purpose and meaning in a life that is filled with pain, loss, destruction, and tragedy.
