This writing has been compiled as a means for professional development. I do not write for monetary gain, I write to help my students gain knowledge and expertise through my eyes within certain topics. This writing is a culmination of information gathered through my term as a university professor of Computer Science. I have spent the majority of my years in industry, and I can assuredly tell you what industry wants and is looking for in a career applicant. There is a significant difference in a professor who progressed from K-12 student to professor, and the professor who later transitioned from industry to education.
I think the majority of difference is from the experiences gathered within those venues. I have found students to be more receptive if I offer up real-world experiences I have seen and been a part of, rather than just pointing at a textbook, reviewing slides, and giving assignments. I feel students get more of what you are saying if you can associate those ideas and concepts with anecdotes.
I feel the post-secondary classroom of today involves a lot of tangents. Today we have a majority student population derived from two distinct digital generations. These students have different wants and needs than all past non-digital generations.
The topic of this writing is Cyber Security. My plan was not to write a mere book on Cyber Security but to take that topic as a base and add tangent ideas and concepts relative to the topic with the additions of education related laboratory activities, industry employability soft and hard skills, certifications and certificates, and a library of possible breaches.
