After the end of her almost eight year marriage, Hannah Layton is stuck in a never-ending revolution of awful blind dates thanks to her mother's meddling. One day, she gets a text from an unknown number who also had a bad date, and they start a friendship founded on the commiseration of their dating lives, and the need for a friend.
Morgan Fowler is a single dad to a nine-year-old and is looking for someone to share his life with. Though he doesn't seem to be having much luck. He vents about his stagnant love life with the stranger he accidentally texted, and starts thinking she might just be someone he could have a future with, even though they've never met.
When they decide to meet in person, Hannah's surprised to learn her mystery friend isn't another woman, but a man. A man who then offers to be her fake boyfriend to put an end to her mother's incessant need to marry her off.
When things start to not feel so fake, will they take the step to actually be together? Or will their fake relationship come to an end?
