High school's supposed to be fun, for some it is... for others not so much. Nick looked forward to 10th grade, but as an other it stinks. Chris, his conniving twin, finished puberty two years ago, he hasn't, yet. Struggling with dad issues, desperately wanting to be a good man, still small-his emotions run wild-leading him down a path of self-destruction. Becoming a troublemaker wasn't something his mom, or Lily, his best friend and life-long playmate, saw in him. Soon his mom's past, living with his abusive, deadbeat dad, becomes his reality.

Gramps often tells him a story about the Sea of Life, a mythical place where you can change the past, hoping he'll believe. His angel calls it "playing god.
