The Other Side is a humorous collection of comics (mostly single panel cartoons) that deal with the subject of death, dying, and the hereafter. Around eight years ago, my good friend Jerry Heater told me (prophetically) that he saw me writing another book. I had written a couple of books at that point, but Jerry said; "This one is going to be full of humor. Even though it deals with a serious subject, it's all going to be humor". I pondered what Jerry had said... Around a year and a half later things began to come together and start to make sense to me when my Mom won a corvette at her church raffle! She took the money instead of the car, and with a sizable portion of her winnings she decided to buy gravestones for our rich relatives. Since I am an artist she asked me to design the headstones. I didn't really like the idea and told her no, but felt a little guilty. I was telling my friend Wayne about my Mother's generous yet (in my opinion at the time) slightly stupid philanthropic endeavor. Then, a day or so later, Wayne asked me if I knew of any funny epitaphs on gravestones. We were busting up laughing! Wayne suggested that I create a book with cartoon drawings of gravestones that feature funny epitaphs, figuring that since I'm an artist, it would be easy for me to crank out the book overnight! "I suddenly thinking that maybe THIS is what Jerry the prophet had talked about, and I was soon convinced of it! However, it turned out to be not as quick and easy as Wayne had imagined. As I started to develop the idea and make sketches, the concept grew beyond just funny epitaphs. It included skeleton jokes, a not-so-grim Reaper, and a dead presidents club on the other side, and a host of other humorous situations related to anywher between here and the hereafter. I decided to name my cartoon collection 'The Other Side.'" Enjoy!
