James Pope and Daniel Parker. - Orphan Boys Detectives

After an accident, James Pope, a street-smart fifteen-year-old, wakes up in an LA area hospital. Orphaned, he is sent to a group home and struggles to adapt to the inhospitable environment - again.

Mrs. Porter, the conniving manager of the home, seeks to become the boy's legal guardian to get her hands on a possible settlement from the trucking company responsible for the boys' parents' deaths. James senses she is lying but, despite her bumbling attentiveness, finds the opportunity to escape the plight of life in the group home alluring.

HEART: The heart of the story revolves around James' interactions with the other people in the group home. The bullies, his new friend Daniel, his compassionate therapist, and the ditzy home manager who struggles to befriend him.

While James struggles to decide about Porter's offer, he and his friend Daniel discover someone is stealing money from the group home. In modern-day Hardy Boys fashion, the junior detectives use twenty-first-century methods to find clues, solve the mystery, and prevent the home from being closed.
