The Holy Spirit takes John Greenberg on supernatural travels in his spirit that first reveal hidden things about his next-door neighbor and then his country, all of which take him through a process where he learns how to pray-a journey fraught with conflict.

He intercedes first for his neighbor; however, he doesn't realize the effectiveness of his prayers, leaving him frustrated. God takes him on other journeys that reveal widespread sources of demonic influences, but he lacks the ability to pray effectively against those evils.
