At a parent-teacher conference many years ago my ex-wife, Jackie, and I met a new teacher that had recently moved to our school district. Before the conference I'd noticed that I wasn't receiving school paperwork at my house. And as I'd done with other teachers, I thought I was reminding her that we need a copy of all paperwork sent to each house so we're both fully informed and she being surprised, asked, "What, you're divorced, I never would have thought that by watching Abbie in class." Jackie and I had tears of relief that we must be doing something right in our relationship, so much so, that a teacher couldn't tell our daughter was from a separated home!
