As eighteen-year-old Alena works through her grief after the horrors at the silver mine, the Pepps carry out the quarterly Dino Games, which preserve the lives of the dinosaurs in Petrichor. These games quickly take a dark turn, though, when an intruder enters the safeguards of Petrichor and attacks Alena for her new black power.

Alena gets away ... but the intruder knows Danny's location.

As Alena and Mark come up with a plan to capture the dangerous man, they discover a harmful secret behind the serum Alena injected into Mark and its mysterious link to the black power they never meant to create.

When Danny's location is finally revealed, Alena leaves Petrichor on a mission to rescue her friend. Things go well ... until they don't. Alena meets a Mixed Blood for the first time, challenging everything she thought she knew about her totem and its power.

And now she's forced to do something that she can only hope can be undone.
