Jamani's Lucky Day: Searching for Endangered Gorillas is a beautifully illustrated chapter book for children from 5-11 and all who enjoy animal and adventure stories. The story was inspired by the authors' trip to Rwanda and their life-changing encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas.

Jamani, a resourceful, young girl from Rwanda, always dreamed of visiting the gorillas that live above her family's farm. The story chronicles her adventures as she unexpectedly finds herself trekking up the mountain with a pair of colorful American grandmothers. The zany, mismatched grannies keep things entertaining while they face one obstacle after another and their goal to reach the gorillas is in constant danger.

Pre-readers will enjoy listening to the fast-paced story while looking at the bright watercolor illustrations. Older children will discover fascinating facts about the gorillas as they read about the adventures of this unusual trio!

Jamani's Lucky Day is both entertaining and educational. The appendix contains photos, fun facts about the gorillas and information about Dian Fossey and others who worked to save the gorillas from extinction.
