In this exciting book, our grilled cheese friends, Susie and Johnny, embark on a thrilling journey to the heart of horse racing and festivities in Louisville, Kentucky. They receive a special invitation to attend the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Derby Festival, a series of events leading up to the iconic race.

Upon arriving in Louisville, they are greeted with the song "My Old Kentucky Home" by the original "Cheesers" band. Susie is named an official Derby Festival princess and Johnny becomes a Derby Festival prince. They are accompanied by Minty Mark, an exceptional tour guide who provides them with a day-by-day itinerary of the exciting experiences they will have.

Their first event is a spectacular "Balloon Glow," where they witness over 40 hot air balloons lighting up the night sky. They also indulge in a classic dish called the "Hot Brown" for dinner.
