Dan "Ace" Ayer, a sixty-four-year-old truck driver anticipating his retirement has spent all his life preparing for an unexpected disaster to keep himself and his family safe (if the worst happens). But when terrorists attack, and the U.S. Government is compromised, his fellow Americans become the primary hurdle as they, too, fight for survival- the power grid goes down- the earth begins to shake, and the air becomes unbreathable- acceptance and self-preservation lead to emotional turmoil as so many of his friends and family are left behind.
