Marcus Knowles is a 10-year-old boy living in Philadelphia PA. Not too long after his 8th birthday, Marcus was diagnosis with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Autism Spectrum Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts how a person perceives, socializes and communicates. It also involves limited and repetitive behavior patterns. Because Marcus was diagnosis later than usual, his treatment began later than usual, and he didn't have early intervention. Knowing she didn't want to resort to medication, Melissa, Marcus's mom opted for behavior, communication, educational and family therapies for him.

"Marcus was intrigued with the books I wrote myself. He stated he wanted to write one of his own. I asked him what is it that he really likes enough to write about. And he stated his dog, Harley. One of my main focuses for this book was to allow Marcus to be his true authentic self. Showing other children, despite your morbidities, there is nothing you can't do if you put your trust and faith in God." -Melissa
