Pearl's life was further impacted by the harsh realities of racial segregation, and teenage pregnancy which endured throughout her formative years. She witnessed the civil rights movement and the eventual integration of schools, work, and public spaces. She believes that this change also brought about the demise of the black community that she knew and loved. Despite the many obstacles she faced, people of all faiths, races, and religions helped her to stay steadfast in her faith as her spirit remained unbroken. This poignant memoir shares the inspiring story of a woman who despite all odds raised three successful children. It is a testament to the strength of the human spirit and the power of faith and resilience.
