With a relatable, awkward main character and hilarious situations, Cherise At the Altar is a lighthearted, contemporary story about faith, community, and finding true love.
Cherise thought she had time to pursue her doctorate first and focus on love later. But when her college boyfriend, Garrett, decided he couldn't wait for her to start a family, she watched him marry someone else. Now, Cherise is ready to find her own happily ever after. But no one measures up to her dream guy Garrett, and she's starting to wonder if maybe she missed her only chance.
Her relationship woes aside, the fitness center that moves in next to her PT clinic brings her one headache after another, particularly a trainer named Kendi who she can barely stand. One emergency and a shameless plea from Kendi later, Cherise winds up helping with the evening soup kitchen at a local church. Before she leaves, she meets Preston. Sparks fly between them, and with all the attributes of her former guy, Garrett, Preston may just be the one she's looking for.
Turns out Preston is a Christian, and, since they met in church, he thinks Cherise is, too. Clearing up the misunderstanding should have been easy. Cherise hasn't stepped foot in a church service since adolescence, and has no interest in making it a habit, but Preston won't date anyone outside of his faith, and Cherise is already smitten.
Finding a great guy is hard and keeping him even harder. But what if keeping Preston means lying to everyone else, including herself?
