"Whose word will you obey, your senior pastor's or Jesus'?"

I thought, 'Is this for real?' Not understanding the true intent of the question or knowing how to answer, he continued,

"The founding pastor of this church had a standard for hiring associate pastors. He asked candidates whom they would obey, Jesus or the senior pastor, and he hired those who answered they would obey the senior pastor. You might think that's difficult to comprehend, but it's actually the right standard."

The pastors in the presbytery nodded in agreement,

and that's when I realized that all the incomprehensible events I'd experienced in this particular church stemmed from this standard. (In the book, Note 07: Scars)
