Typical college sweethearts, they had met at a newly opened coffeehouse and much of the rest was predictable...dating on campus... long-distance dating from different states...an engagement...marriage and three children. What was less predictable was how Ross and Kay evolved into educators who traveled the world and lived in nine (Ross) or six (Kay) different countries. It was an exotic life, but they managed to keep the family grounded and made sure to re-immerse themselves in Americana after their oldest daughter left to attend college in the United States. She was terribly distressed when new friends would phone out for pizza or select a movie from the many available at just one theater (these were not typical activities on a military installation at the time). Ultimately, their idyllic life slowly began to fray and unwind in the grips of a terrible disease. That, sadly, had also not been predicted. Ross Calvert survived the pandemic years by digging into the genealogy of the family and then, turned to writing.
