Kristen has been deaf her whole life and very much enjoys her life on the ranch and her special friendship with her dog Nickeli. One day Kristen comes home from school and feels very discouraged because she got a bad grade on a spelling test. She is convinced it is because she is deaf and that is very disheartening for her. After receiving some comfort from her mom and spending some time with her silly dog Nickeli, she feels a little better and decides to go for a horseback ride with her friend Lisa. While on their ride, there is an accident and Kristen comes to the rescue with the help of Nickeli and saves the day.
