Shifting Shades of Sunlight includes a number of newly written poems, plus selected poetry from Ms. Rogers-Grantham's earlier personal chapbooks, published now for the first time in a full-fledged collection. When I read one of Mary Rogers-Grantham's poems or hear her reading at a poetry event, I feel the touch of a cool breeze and, in the distance, birds singing. I'm convinced all the beauty life has to offer is right there at our fingertips if we'll only reach out and take it gently in our hands, as she does in this stanza from Blue Mists, a tribute to her late husband:
