When our children are newborns to early toddler ages, the only way they can communicate their needs is through nonverbal communication, such as crying. As parents, we have the rich opportunity to meet those needs! One long night, Brandon's son was still crying, and after he tried everything that he could think of, Brandon found himself as a new (and tired) father getting frustrated. Then, while looking down at his son's face, this thought came and changed his life, "I'm so thankful Caleb was born and that I get to be his dad. Why am I getting frustrated with him for expressing his needs?" After that, when his son expressed his needs, Brandon would say to him, "Thanks for telling mommy and me." At that moment, the concept for this book was born.
