In November 2018, Kandi, already struggling with anxiety and chronic fatigue, faces her family's unthinkable losses after the Paradise Camp Fire. Her two sons and two granddaughters are immediately displaced when their homes are demolished, and they come to live with Kandi and her husband in their small cabin. As Kandi's solitude-seeking husband moves out and her energy wanes, she wonders how much of herself she can and should she give up for her family.
