Pete and I were out fishing early one morning, when Pete's glasses accidentally fell in the water and sank to the bottom of the bay. Abby jumped in to rescue Pete's glasses, but found that she couldn't swim while holding them, so she hid them in an empty conch shell for safe keeping. When we returned to retrieve the missing glasses, we discovered hundreds of conch shells, all pink and white. By the time we found the right shell, there were heaps and heaps of empty conch shells piled up on the beach. With some creative thinking, we found a practical use for all the empty conch shells and returned the beach to its pristine condition while serendipitously resolving another frustrating problem.
This story illustrates that sometimes solving one problem creates a second problem, and determination is required to complete the project. Having friends with various skills and abilities improves the quality of the solution and makes the work more fun.
