Deep Awakening

The glassy ocean off the south Florida coast is perfect for one last dive before Jasper reluctantly becomes a father. He and his best friend Diego venture out to explore the Alejandra, a deep shipwreck with a superstitious reputation. But as soon as they anchor, everything seems wrong. The current is deceptively strong and schools of fish eerily hover around them. Recklessly diving despite the danger, Jasper and Diego surface to discover no other boats around. The current strips them of their anchor and casts them out to sea in relentless heat with no way to call for help. With no food, little water, and Jasper's dog Buzz on board, Jasper and Diego's friendship is tested. On land, Jasper's wife Anna struggles with news of their unborn baby's ill health. Her doctor orders a delivery, but she can't reach Jasper. Her worry grows as the hours tick by, her pleas for help are ignored, and a terrible storm is forecast.

And then night falls. Jasper senses a shadowy figure following them just beneath the waves. He hears murmurs in the darkness. Is it a shark, his exhausted imagination, or something more insidious? Only Buzz knows... Set against a fight for survival, Deep Awakening is a charged story about life, death, hope, fear, and the resilience of the human spirit.
