Despite all of the world’s distractions, there was a constant whisper in my ear. Every gentle breeze that brushed my skin reminded me. Violent gusts of wind felt as screams. I was perpetually half in and half out of my true self. Most days I was able to ignore the whispers and dull the ache they conjured, but my self-control began to slip away the moment the first vision of Nyra visited me…

I remember it felt like I was falling, like when you step out, thinking the ground is level, but you’ve missed a step down…

And then I froze, holding my breath, trying not to flinch or scream or make any sudden movements.

She was beautiful and terrifying. Her paws were massive, and her body matched. Her fur was a silky gray with hints of white that seemed to glisten as the sunlight danced along her coat. Her eyes were the palest blue I have ever seen, and they were fixed on me. At first, I thought she couldn’t be real, because she sat so perfectly still. The only movement was of her fur as the breeze floated past her…but then she blinked. For several moments, neither of us moved. I was motionless with fear, but she seemed confident, curiously staring into me. I was paralyzed, unsure of what to do, but her posture was certain and intentional.

I heard a soft voice in the background of my thoughts. Nyra, it whispered, and my head began to swim with flashes that felt like memories. They weren’t my own. They couldn’t be. They were so far removed from any reality I’d ever experienced, and yet, I felt them with the same familiarity as when I recalled my childhood.

A young girl finds herself wondering if her sanity is in question or if she’s a part of something larger than herself, a destiny in a far away land where wolves speak to her and magical powers begin to reveal themselves. As she journeys through Camberia, she must question everything she thought she knew to defeat the Darkness that seeks to destroy her and the entire continent she’s been charged to protect.
