Stories from the Sidelines: High School Football Tales from the North Carolina mountains

Stories from the Sidelines … Volume 1A, is a revised and reworked edition of the first book of a four-volume series on high school football in North Carolina. The subtitle for each volume tells where these stories and events occurred. The story-telling and other information came primarily from retired football coaches who spoke candidly and at length with the author. Vol. 1A contains firsthand information from coaches who headed football programs in the more western Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. Some of the men also led programs in other regions and states, but the 24 chapters in this volume focus on their years in what is commonly called western North Carolina, i.e., at schools found in the state’s Blue Ridge and Great Smoky mountains.
