The Geometry Of Self
Andrew S Vadas
After college Rod Laurenton finds himself living with his parents, toiling away at his low paying theater job. Out of the blue, a law firm reaches out to inform him that he has inherited a large farm and a substantial amount of money. Nobody cared to tell Rod that his estranged grandfather has died and now he is the owner of the man's estate and legacy. Against his parent's wishes, Rod moves to this property to try his hand at not only farming, but being a sovereign adult.
Rod packs his things and drives to the hills outside of Sacramento to start his new life. Rather than freedom he finds the chains of inexperience and loneliness, prompting him to invite his best friend to come live with him. Soon after, the property begins to attract wayward souls, young people who are also looking for purpose and meaning. With a cooperative of near strangers, Rod is put through a series of physical and emotional crucibles, all the while trying to make enough money to keep the community fed. He'll learn to move forward and prosper if only he can figure out how to shed the weight of past expectations.
