It is a wonderful story that helps us all see the potential of children and how believing in them can ultimately impact them in the short term and long term. Eduardo pretends not to understand Spanish, his family's language, but we soon learn that maybe he does. His big sisters don't know that he can count and that reading all of those books to him perhaps has helped learn how to read. The entire family is pleasantly surprised when he is enrolled in kindergarten.
