This collection of stories and poems begins with a five-year-old boy standing on a big rock at the end of the driveway, waiting for his father to rumble over the hill on his school bus. The bus slows down and stops, and the boy gets on for the short ride to the bus shed. Many years later, far out in the Universe, the boy now an old man encounters the dazzling, goddess Shekinah - the feminine side of Jehovah.

In between, the little boy grows up dreaming of being a major leaguer, an Arkansas Razorback, or at least a Greenwood Bulldog. But alas, fate provided a different destiny. He became a storyteller. He wrote stories about his childhood and his adventures.

Grady Jim Robinson's stories about growing up in Arkansas first appeared in Sports Illustrated in 1979. His first story, "The Diving Contest" (June 1979), was later published in Reader's Digest and in dozens of small magazines. The film rights were sold to a Hollywood producer. His stories center around a boy desperately seeking the approval of his

football-coach father through attempts at athletic glory.

Robinson developed many of his stories as a youth minister in Tulsa and Memphis and later, in the world of nightclub comedy, and during a

thirty-year career as a professional motivational speaker for corporations across America. In 1994, he was inducted into the National Speaker's Hall of Fame. He continues to create stories and poems.
