He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1968 from an accelerated 7 year undergrad/medical school curriculum. He served two years as a doctor Captain in the U.S. Army. He had four years of training in orthopedic surgery at Orthopedic Hospital Los Angeles California. Has been practicing orthopedic surgery since 1976. Dr. Silver is known for his expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures since 1978; having performed over 24,000 such surgeries throughout his career.
Dr. Silver's approach to patient care emphasized conservative treatments, including physical therapy, bracing, and pain management, before considering surgical options. However, when surgery was necessary, his extensive experience almost always resulted in positive and predictable outcomes. His areas of arthroscopic specialization include knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, and elbow problems.
