Nishtha Singhal, she/her, born in 1986, has been in regular treatment for major depressive disorder since 2009. She shares what changed with a formal diagnosis, what rest and mental fog look like for her, how she sabotaged her own coping, what the depression says to her, how she struggles to exercise, what it means to do what makes her happy, her pity parties, and entries from her journal, among other reflections from her life with chronic depression.
In October 2022, she published Psychotherapy for Depression: Personal Essays by a Survivor. The book was published through Notion Press in paperback and electronic versions. Reading about Nishtha's personal journey with psychotherapy has proved useful for patients, caregivers and mental health practitioners, and other readers.
Nishtha edits and proofreads books on freelance basis. She has an LLB from DU, Masters in English from JNU, and Bachelors in Journalism from LSR. She lives in Gurugram, Haryana.
