When Duty Calls

What happens in a person's life when they have no "quit" in them? None at all. No quit when challenge and adversity strike early and often throughout life.

No quit when there's no money so multiple jobs must be worked while still going to school.

No quit when husbands leave and there are five kids to raise, school, feed, inspire.

No quit when people tell you that you can't. So you keep marching forward, moving from enlisted to officer and all the way up the ranks in a man's world, graduating Army War College for future General Officers, to full Colonel before you're told to retire by the DOD for age reasons.

No quit when sent to clean up a mess in Iraq as a battlefield commander.

No quit. Ever. Self-doubt, yes. But no quit.

Instead, living life as it comes to you. Sustained by faith; inspired by family, friends, comrades; empowered by commitment to things bigger than yourself.

This is that story. It's a story for men and women, civilian and military, and readers of any age.
