Sarge, a Vietnam POW, struggling with P.T.S.D. finds himself unable to live safely with his wife which leads him to the street and homelessness, falling into drugs and alcohol abuse. Finding a friend at local AA meetings helps him to get sober, and he is hired at a downtown boxing gym but continues to live on the streets. He finds himself one night in a high profile legal dilemma. The publicity from the media grabs the attention of a granddaughter he didn't know existed. She needs him and finds him. Along with his band of encampment friends and granddaughter, they find themselves caught between local and federal law enforcement as well as the underworld community.
