He becomes very confident, especially in keeping the raccoons away from the corn, not allowing them to steal it the night before harvest as they usually do. Unfortunately, his pride controls him, and he leaves the straight and narrow for the broad path that leads to his misadventure-and his subsequent fear and guilt.
