The Milky Way Galaxy is an awe-inspiring entity, with its majestic spiral arms filled with celestial bodies in all directions. It is estimated to contain more than 200 billion stars, plus gas and dust particles, swirling around a supermassive black hole at its center. Our own sun is located on one of the minor spiral arms near the outer edge of the galaxy, making our view of the Milky Way's structure incomplete as we can only observe about 0.000002 percent of it. Despite this limitation however, astronomers have used a variety of powerful telescopes and instruments to map out nearly two thirds of the galaxy's structure enabling humanity to understand a little bit more about our home among the stars.
Everyone is eager to learn more about the Milky Way galaxy. I have compiled my notes and findings while researching this fascinating celestial body.
