Maya, a loner who grew up in boarding schools with the snotty children of the 1% with an absentee father. Most people would describe her as difficult she would call it having a backbone. A stubborn survivor who witnessed her mother's murder at the age of 6.

Charles, a 200-and something vampire King known for his temper, sense of entitlement, and feared by many. Has the world in the palm of his hand (or so he thinks) until he makes the mistake of kidnapping the wrong woman. But when her new living situation dredges up her past Maya finds the first real lead in finding her mother's murderer.
