Infamous filmmaker Uwe Boll tells the incredible story of his life and great success as a self-made man in Uwe Boll Raw: A Memoir, his first book in English.

Born in Wermelskirchen, Germany in 1965 as the son of a chemical technician, Uwe Boll hardly had the typical start of a filmmaker. He had no connections in Hollywood whatsoever. As a teenager, he had been a film critic in print and on radio, but young Uwe wanted more than to merely watch movies and give his opinions on them. He wanted to be a filmmaker himself.

After making his debut with the audacious satirical sketch comedy film German Fried Movie, co-directed by Frank Lustig, he was off to the races... Or so he thought. Their next film Barschel: A Murder in Geneva was not as successful. Realizing he might not ever get to make a feature again, Uwe made Amoklauf on his own, a disturbing film about a young man who runs amok causing a massacre of innocent civilians and getting away with it. Uwe's career had begun in earnest, and nobody was going to stop him!

Uwe Boll Raw: A Memoir not only tracks Uwe Boll's career directing dozens of successful films, but also covers his youth in Germany, his personal beliefs on animal welfare, the environment and politics, and how he was able to balance making thoughtful motion pictures on highly charged political issues (Attack on Darfur, Rampage, Stoic) alongside more commercial fare based on hit video games (BloodRayne, House of the Dead, Postal).

In the iconic way only Uwe Boll can, Uwe Boll Raw: A Memoir is a deeply personal look at one of the most infamous filmmakers of all time.

"I admire my friend, Uwe... He's always done it 'his way'." - Clint Howard

"I loved working with Uwe, he answered to no one and loves making movies, the definition of independent filmmaker!" - Michael Pare

"Working with Uwe has been a remarkable journey. He truly allows his actors to be creative, participating in the development behind the world we bring to life. Uwe approaches each project with an open mind and heart, allowing for a remarkable collaborative creative process." - Kristen Renton

"Uwe makes no apologies for his work nor for his clear points of view. He operates fearlessly in a fear-driven business while showing the utmost respect and open mindedness, in the true spirit of a collaborator, to his fellow artists." - Daniel Serafini-Sauli
