In 1961, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created the Fantastic Four, which launched the Marvelous Marvel comics, 1962: Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created the Amazing Spider Man, therefore cementing Marvel comics place in comic book history. A legend is born. In 1970, editor and writer Roy Thomas convinced Stan Lee and publisher Martin Goodman to license Conan the Barbarian for publication in his own book.
