Point of Care Ultrasound

An ultrasound is an imaging test that uses sound waves to generate the images of various structures inside the body. Point of care ultrasound is the use of ultrasound for making immediate decisions regarding the patient's care in emergency situations. This application of ultrasound is used for evaluating the medical condition in settings like combat zone, emergency medicine, ambulance or critical care unit. Point of care ultrasound is used for diagnosing certain pathologic conditions or injuries quickly, where other diagnostic methods will consume more time and expose the patient to greater risk.
