During the COVID-19 pandemic, author Donya Hassanshahi turned to poetic literature to overcome the anxieties of the circumstances. Through this resort, she found comfort in constructing the emotions of surrounding individuals, and herself, to uniquely portray the unpredictable obstacles through diversified perspectives. Nearly two years in the making, this assortment of poems and prose accentuates the mindset of young adults finding themselves in their teen years, adequately adapting to their environment and learning further about oneself; written by a teen, but applicable to all. Every poem, every line, every word possesses value to speak to the reader in a personal regard.

About the Author

Donya Hassanshahi was born in Manhattan, New York, and is an aspiring author following the publication of her debut poetry collection entitled The Fairy Without Wings. After moving to California at the age of eight, she wrote her first short story, which prompted her love for an array of creative outlets. Her current high school experience incorporates a variety of academic courses, alongside extracurricular activities such as clubs and athletics. As a mental health activist, she illuminates the darker side of the psychological journey through words of interpretation. To shed light on the significance of this topic, she advocates for mental health through her Instagram and Twitter pages.
