Picture two individuals that have never been exposed to the belief systems of Americans, when it comes to religion, the environment, or our education system. How would they perceive our incredibly ridiculous and unfounded thought processes? Instead of using individuals that grew up on a deserted island or a cave, having had no contact with humanity, our story unfolds following two humanoid aliens who arrive for a visit. They are witty, politically incorrect, and possess certain powers that are intermittently released throughout the narrative. Add to this a backdrop of visiting and critiquing various cities throughout the USA, and a modicum of sexual contact between the visitors and their escorts.

So, Let Me Get This Straight makes for a fun and fact filled journey into the minds of Americans and how many of our thought processes have nothing to do with fact, reality or the betterment of our society.

READERS' FAVORITE REVIEW Reviewed by Doreen Chombu for Readers' Favorite Forget everything you know about Earth and imagine you are highly intelligent and evolved aliens visiting the planet for the first time. So, Let Me Get This Straight by Richard H. Kirshen is the story of Quin and Vera, two aliens sent to Earth to share knowledge and observations. The pair look just like humans but with minor differences like missing pinky toes and appendixes. Their arrival causes a circus, sending them to the White House. Quin becomes close with Kaitlyn, the President's daughter. Vera forms a similar bond with Tony, the National Security Advisor. Quin and Vera tour the country, holding conferences addressing issues related to technology, religious beliefs, education, and many more topics. But, unbeknownst to everyone, Vera and Quin withhold one piece of information, which is vital to the world's fate.

I loved reading So, Let Me Get This Straight because Richard H. Kirshen uses this story to address many of the world's crucial issues creatively. It is difficult to think about these issues logically, with no bias or preconceptions. Therefore, it was nice to analyze them from a neutral perspective. The story covers topics like environmental protection, gun control, religious differences, music and art, access to education, biology, and more. Kirshen makes the story realistic by referring to existing people, places, and events, which made it intriguing because I could not tell what would happen next. The characters are well-defined with unique personalities. Quin is charismatic and outgoing, while Vera is calm, cautious, and considerate. I hope Kirshen writes a sequel on Ethirius, Quin and Vera's home planet. Great story.
