Inspired by the story of Fatima, this uplifting and inspirational Catholic Christmas novella is set in Pennsylvania in the year 1963. Baseball champ and egomaniac Jim "Cannonball" Edwards returns to his hometown where he attends an honorary banquet and has a few too many drinks. Driving home, he crashes his sports car, and his friend and passenger, Bob, is killed. After waking up in serious condition at St. Joseph's Hospital, Jim meets a young girl, Melody Malone, who suffers from a rare form of muscular dystrophy. He and his wife, Jill, become very fond of Melody, and are devastated when she passes.

Later, on Christmas Eve, Jim visits Melody's grave. There, in the dark, lonely cemetery, a holy miracle occurs which forever changes his life. Energized and with his faith renewed, he visits the children's ward, where for the first time he feels a deep sense of purpose and gains a new outlook on his life's plan. On this Christmas Eve, a complete transformation has taken place within him.
