The Amethyst Sisters

Three women. From three decades. In three voices. They felt like sisters after meeting several times in writing workshops. They named themselves The Amethyst Sisters when Bernice crafted and gifted each sister with a silver choker-style amethyst necklace. Spiritually, amethyst crystals symbolize healing powers. They wore their necklaces as they gathered for their workshops in the sisterhood of friendship, writing, and healing. They met in restaurants, toting laptops, notebooks, and folders full of printed chapters. Through conversation, laughter, and tears they wrote and edited and shared stories on life subjects-among them were home, health, time, and truth. In this collection of personal essays, the authors explore these and similar themes. Just as the amethyst stands for healing, within these pages the authors found hope and solace.
