Marbles & Marvels is a nursery rhyme for small children.
It is a short story about the Elgin Marbles that were in the Parthenon in Greece.
Lord Elgin had them moved from Greece to England. They were placed in a museum. Museum cleaners chipped them, and some children did not follow the rules in the museum. A Queen had them moved to a back hall during wartime.
The cleaners and children are the marvels. Some people believe the marbles should be returned to Greece while others do not.
There is a replica of the Parthenon in Nashville, TN. It was built in 1897.
Educators and parents should discuss the back ground of the marbles with children which will aid with understanding and help children remember the history that surrounds them.
