Pete Magnusson considers himself one lucky guy. He inherits a farm from his crabby old Uncle Fritz. The farm is old, located in Northwestern Minnesota, about one hour South of Lake Superior. Pete has discovered that his uncle buried his spare cash in coffee cans in the backyard. He planned to sell the farm, but first dig around the yard for the cash cans. While digging, Pete makes an amazing discovery, a buried Viking rune stone. A slab of rock with runic lettering etched on it. Pete has an interest n Viking lore, so is able to read the rune stone. It puzzles him because it seems to read as a curse. He reads it over and over again, and by doing so, breaks the curse awakening the evil creature that now torments him.
