In a world bound by RPG mechanics, Fenix Svartur- born a mere Blacksmith- sets out under the influence of an illusion spell to become a monster hunter. As his lying repeatedly gets him into and out of trouble with all of his much stronger compatriots, Fenix finds himself training to hunt very different prey, and the unsettling realization that he's good at his job.
My name is Draco Murdock: a writer, game designer, and- on my off time- a pharmacy technician for the navy. I was inspired to write by my fifth-grade teacher who led me to writing ten short stories about a pair of monster hunters.
Thankfully, those are lost to history, but I'm still here working to bring my creativity to life. While I've already been brought on to larger projects, courtesy of connections made along the way, and I've fulfilled my goal through music and plays, I've remained determined to publish a novel- and, here we are. Mission accomplished.
